Crime Hotspot Analysis - Vancouver 2024

This map visualizes spatial patterns of crime and integrates demographic data to support data-informed decision-making in law enforcement, urban planning, and community safety.

The project involved preparing key datasets, including 2024 crime records, census demographic, transit infrastructure, and zoning data. Using ArcGIS Pro, techniques like kernel density estimation and bivariate choropleth mapping were applied to explore correlations between crime intensity and demographic factors like income and population density.

The final map serves as a practical tool for:

  • Guiding targeted police patrols and more effective resource allocation

  • Identifying communities that may be more vulnerable and need targeted safety support

  • Informing policy development for planning and community leaders
