Campsite Site Suitability Analysis

For my campsite suitability analysis in San Diego County, CA, I evaluated locations based on key criteria to identify optimal camping sites. Factors included distance to major roads, elevation, terrain slope, proximity to water sources, and ground cover type. Only areas with coniferous, oak, or mixed woodlands were considered suitable. Sites were scored on a scale of 0 to 20, with higher scores representing more desirable locations. Proximity to water was a nuanced factor—sites between ¼ to ½ mile from a water source scored highest, while sites too close or too far were deemed less suitable. The analysis identified prime camping areas while considering environmental guidelines and access needs, creating a valuable tool for planning sustainable outdoor experiences in San Diego County.
