Parkland Within Racial/Ethnic Majorities

This analysis compares census tracts by race and ethnicity to areas of parkland in Cleveland, Ohio. In my analysis, I focused on the census tracts with the highest percentages of race and ethnicity for the following Census groups; white alone, not Hispanic or Latino, black or African American alone, not Hispanic or Latino, and Hispanic or Latino. This analysis documents the parkland within the forty census tracts with the highest percentage of white, black or African American, and Hispanic or Latino.

The number forty was decided on due to the significance of population ranges for the two largest racial demographic groups within Cleveland, the black population, and the white population. The boundary of the white population majority ends after the first forty census tracts. The forty census tracts with the highest percentages of white populations range from 50.2-88.7% and have a combined total population of 117,364. The forty black or African American census tracts range from 89.8-100% and have a combined total population of 73,540. The forty Hispanic or Latino census tracts range from 18.5-66.2% and have a total combined population of 117,277.
