For this project, I leveraged my GIS skills to create a comprehensive mapping portfolio showcasing various aspects of Riverside, California. The portfolio includes three main components:

  • Zoning Map: This interactive web map displays the different zoning designations within the city limits of Riverside. I acquired and processed the zoning data from the city's open data portal, ensuring accurate representation of the zoning boundaries and classifications. The map employs intuitive symbology and labeling, enabling users to quickly identify residential, commercial, industrial, and other zoning types. Additionally, I incorporated popups to provide detailed information about specific zoning codes and regulations.

  • Special District Map: This map visualizes the boundaries of various special districts within Riverside, such as school districts, water districts, and fire protection districts. I obtained the spatial data from multiple sources, including local government agencies and state repositories. Careful data integration and quality control measures were taken to ensure accurate representation of district boundaries.

  • Fire Hazards Map: Leveraging data from sources like Cal Fire and the U.S. Geological Survey, I created a map highlighting areas within Riverside that are prone to wildfire hazards. The map incorporates layers displaying fire hazard severity zones, historical wildfire perimeters, and vegetation types. I also included relevant base maps and terrain data to provide context and aid in risk assessment. This map can serve as a valuable resource for emergency planning, public safety efforts, and risk mitigation strategies.
