Australia which is the lowest continent in the world has an average elevation of only 330 metres. The highest points on the other continents are all more than twice the height of Mount Kosciuszko which is 2228 metres above sea level. Mawson's Peak on Heard Island tend to be the highest peak which is located in the Southern Ocean, south of the Australian continent, near the Antarctica. This mountain is an active volcano which stands 2745 metres high.
